The location right on the canal and next to the river was absolutely stunning. We enjoyed watching the boats and brides passing by, and even took a boat trip ourselves. The hotel's proximity to the XinMin bridge and the metro line 2 made transportation very convenient. We also appreciated the cleanliness of the hotel and the friendly staff.
Couldn't stay longer.

A very nice 4 star hotel in an incredible place, on a lovely channel, in front of the historic Shantang street. Not far from the Liu Yuan (Lingering) Garden and the Changmen gate. Very quiet at the same time. Cheap.
It was written in my booking confirmation and on the web page, resp., that the hotel provides breakfast (for an additional fee) and has a restaurant. However, this was not true, probably due to the Chinese New Year. Another thing: the hotel is located on the southern side of the channel: coming from the historic street, you just have to cross the small bridge under the big one. But on the map provided by Booked.net it is located on the northern side. I spent half an hour on the northern side trying to find the place. The Chinese which I asked could not help me, showing me wrong direction. Another hint: there are at least two Shantang streets beginning not far from the Changmen gate, both along channels, so choose the more historic one.

The location is really great!!! The hotel is located in the very beautiful place called ShanTang. The hotel is on the channel, surrounded by boats, small buildings with red lightings. The hotel stuff was polite and friendly, although English is very basic. The room was clean, had everything a person needs and the view on the channel was awesome! I would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to Suzhou!
It was a bit difficult to find it first, but Chinese locals were very helpful to find it. Be ready to pay the deposit for the room, as every hotel in China does. The deposit will be returned to your card later.

The location is excellent right on the canal and the service was very friendly if not always fully efficient.
A general problem in China is the speed of the internet in the evenings and on week ends.

Good duvet!
Staff speak poor English; unable to direct me towards to the city centre; poor breakfast; "superior double room" infact tiny (barely larger than the bed), facing onto a dingy courtyard, not even a waterfront view; tiny bathroom with garish pink fittings.

Conveniently located on a historical street along the canal, close to transport stops. Popular spot for wedding photoshoots. Good amenities including hot showers, TV, and adequate lighting. Easily accessible to nearby attractions and gardens.

The hotel cannot be reached by car/taxi. The have to drop you of at the bridge on the main road. The hotel is on a canal. A lot of tourgroups pass by the hotel but don't stay there because the hotel is too small. The floor in our room was not cleaned. The sweep the floors (high thick carpet) with an ordinary broom !! All rooms are different in size because of the old building. We had a toilet with a ceiling window. Staff tries to help but does not speak english very well. 10 minutes walk from the hotel near the western citygate there is a busstop with a lot of busses to the city center and the gardens. bus 501 and 325 are very useful. Along the mainroad bus 70 circles the old centre. The hotel is part of a restored part of the town with old canals but lies just out of the citywall and moat.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel! The location was simply stunning, right on the most beautiful part of the canals. Every day we were treated to the sight of wedding couples shooting their photos in the area. It was also really convenient, being so close to the rail transit stop and just one stop away from the railway station. We found it easy to explore Suzhou from here, and the hotel itself is located in one of the top tourist spots in the area.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

The location of the "Rooms with a View" overlooking the canal is exceptional (a photographer's dream). The adjoining restaurant has an extensive menu and is very good value.
Occasionally, there was a sewerage smell in the bathroom.

Fairy-tale -like ubicacion, has nothing to envy with Venice. All staff speaks english. Cold character, but very helpful.
Not very clean, there was some humdity in our lower floor room. But the ubication compensates this largely, highly recomended.

The location is great, right in the historical Shantang street
The bathroom smells horrible, we've booked two rooms on the grand floor and both rooms had really bad smell in the bathroom.

Great historic location by the canal, boats parking outside my window. One can explore the water historic street just on the doorsteps both day and night time. Not far away from the train station and other attractions like Lingering Garden and Humble Administrator's Garden (both highly recommended).
Despite advertised non-deposit status, I was asked to leave 400 yuen deposit.
